How to apply a mulch
- Before applying a mulch ensure all weeds are removed from the borders first.
- If necessary dig over the area to loosen the soil.
- For best results ensure the soil is damp before applying a bark mulch.
- Apply a layer of bark over the area to a minimum depth of 50mm (2 inches). Take care not to pile the bark up directly around the base of plants to avoid rotting.
- For play areas we recommend a minimum depth of 300mm of Play Grade Bark.
- Check the depth of the bark on a regular basis to ensure the correct depth is maintained and top up if necessary. The bark will decay slowly adding organic matter to the soil as it decomposes.
