Rolawn support Greenfingers Charity at Eden House Hospice
23rd November 2009
Through their long association with the Greenfinger’s Charity, Rolawn, Britain’s largest turf grower, were delighted to donate their renowned Medallion® turf to Eden House Hospice, Carlisle for their new sensory garden which was officially opened by BBC Blue Peter presenter Helen Skelton. Transforming the garden at Eden House into a sensory garden was a major project, however the result is a stunning garden that the children and their families will be able to enjoy.
Richard Jackson, Greenfingers Chairman commented “10 years on Greenfingers has now completed 28 gardens at children’s hospices throughout the UK and for nearly all of those our friends at Rolawn have been a major supporter. Their high-quality turf and top soil have been supplied, free of charge, to all but a few (which didn’t require turf!) willingly, accurately and they have become a real help in our aim to create magical gardens at children’s hospices.”
“Help from suppliers like this is a major part of the contribution we can make to brightening the lives of children with life-limiting conditions and their families during their stay at a hospice; giving them and their families the best environment in those difficult days.”
“Our work is greatly appreciated by the hospices and the families of the children and I am sure they would join me in saying a very big thank you to Rolawn for their considerable help – which we all hope can continue!”

Eden Valley Hospice, is located 3 miles south of the city centre of Carlisle, provides specialist palliative care for people with life-limiting illnesses and support for their families and carers.
Greenfingers creates magical gardens for children’s hospices. Children with life-limiting conditions, and their families and carers, all need the benefits that a garden can bring. A Greenfingers’ garden can be a place to play, or a place to rest; it can be a place to be together, or a place for quiet contemplation; it can be a place for laughter or a place for reflection. And whatever it is, it is always a truly magical place.
