David Davis MP & John Hawley former football star open Holme Pavilion

Holme Village Hall Charity and Holme Rovers Football club held the official opening of their refurbished pavilion recently. The opening ceremony was carried out by Guests of honour, Howdenshire and Haltemprice MP David Davis and John Hawley (former Arsenal, Hull City, Scunthorpe, and Leeds player).

Rolawn supported the project with a donation of their Medallion turf.

“Volunteers had worked extremely hard to move the project to its completion, it has been a real ‘Team Effort’ and it was a great accolade to everyone involved to have our Member of Parliament and John Hawley do the honours. I was very grateful for the support of a major company and David was also glad to see big business helping grass roots efforts” commented ERYC Cllr. Nick Evans the Village Hall Chairman, and Vice Chair of the Humber Playing Fields Association. The Holme-on-Spalding-Moor project has been planned and executed over the last two years with the backing of the Football Foundation who provided 55% of the overall total cost, and additional funding from Awards for All, Commuted Sums, The Joseph & Annie Cattle Trust, The Hull & East Riding Charitable Trust and local fundraising efforts by the Hall and Football club.

Adrian Morris from the Football Foundation, and Graham Turner from the East Riding FA also attended and without their help and advice, and that of Peter Latham Warde of the HPFA, the project would not have happened. Other attendees included ERYC Cllr Paul Robinson, members of the Holme Rovers management/coaching staff and members of the Village Hall committee.
