New products from the Rolawn Group coming to FutureScape 2023

Rolawn® will present its latest innovations to landscaping professionals at FutureScape 2023; site-specific topsoils for contaminated land remediation, composts and turf from Hallstone® and a Sustainable Drainage System from BioScapes®.

Due to its technical knowledge and exacting sourcing protocols, Rolawn was perfectly placed to develop a solution for the landscape and construction industry where imported topsoil must comply with the most stringent standards associated with contaminated land remediation, such as from YALPAG (Yorkshire and Lincolnshire Pollution Advisory Group).

Rolawn’s new site-specific topsoils can be manufactured to order and to specification with delivery in bulk to anywhere on the UK mainland.

The service was developed after successful collaboration with multiple stakeholders concerning a housing development where the local authorities wanted to ensure imported material was safe, free of contamination and fit for purpose. The developers looked beyond the British Standard for topsoil and invoked the use of guidance produced for exactly this purpose by YALPAG.

Rolawn’s Sales and Marketing Director, Jonathan Hill, said: “This product development aligns with the group’s position as a champion of quality, consistency, innovation, and environmental sustainability. Previous research into topsoil health revealed an alarming percentage of products on the market that did not meet the standards claimed by the suppliers. Running through our DNA is the sharing of informed, correct knowledge to help horticulture and construction professionals understand the challenges they face as expectations around topsoil traceability and quality heighten.”

Elsewhere in the group, BioScapes, which has a specific focus on providing biodiversity solutions to positively impact wildlife and environmental conservation, has recently brought to market a unique sustainable drainage system (SuDS).

The BioScapes SuDS planter is designed to manage rainwater run-off from domestic and commercial properties and, like all products sold under the BioScapes brand, the planter incorporates a patented system of integrated wildlife habitats. Alongside the unit, BioScapes customers will be able to purchase a specialist SuDS topsoil, designed with superior water management properties. The BioScapes SuDS unit delivers against all four pillars of SuDS as set out in the CIRIA SuDS Manual guidance.

FutureScape visitors will also get the opportunity to win great prizes with the ever-popular ‘Hallstone Forklift Challenge’ – a remote-controlled race against the clock. Hallstone is Rolawn’s trade-only brand, which launched at FutureScape 2022, a move that has seen its stockists increase their sales by over 50% in 2023.

Important update: Temporary 6.5% surcharge effective 7 April

At Rolawn, we are committed to maintaining the high standards of quality and service our customers expect, so we want to be open with our customers about a change that will affect pricing from Tuesday 7th April.

This decision has been taken in response to disruption to energy supplies, which has led to significant increases in wholesale prices, affecting not only fuel and fertiliser but also costs throughout our wider supply chain. As a business that relies heavily on fuel for both transport and operations, these sustained cost pressures have become increasingly difficult to absorb.

While we have worked hard to mitigate the impact, the scale and pace of recent price increases have now exceeded what we can sustain internally, and we therefore need to recover a proportion of these externally driven increases.

From Tuesday 7th April, a temporary 6.5% surcharge will apply to all products.

We know that any increase in price is frustrating, particularly at a time when many businesses and households are already feeling under pressure. That is why we want to be clear that this is not a decision we have made lightly, and not one we wanted to make. It has been introduced solely to help offset unavoidable cost inflation and allow us to continue delivering the quality, reliability and service standards associated with Rolawn.

We will continue to monitor market conditions closely and will review this surcharge as soon as circumstances allow, providing reasonable notice of any changes. We recognise that any price increase is unwelcome, but this step is necessary to ensure the continuity and reliability of our operations during a period of ongoing uncertainty.

We remain committed to providing the quality, reliability and service standards you expect from Rolawn, and we truly appreciate your understanding and continued support.

If you have any questions, please contact our customer support team who will be happy to help.
