Exemption to hosepipe ban for newly laid turf reports HortWeek

With hosepipe bans in place across parts of the UK and more imminent, we are pleased to advise turf customers that newly laid turf is one of the exemptions, as reported by HortWeek.

The HortWeek article highlighted the hardship that would be suffered by communities as well as the turfgrass industry and landscape contractors without the exemption.

Furthermore, the Turfgrass Growers Association (TGA) is quoted, commenting on the detrimental effect that a ban would have on the environmental gains that result from real turf – from reduced soil erosion and water run-off to carbon sequestration.

Where applicable, the exemption applies for up to 28 days following installation. However, before purchasing turf, we would still advise customers to check with your local water company to see if there are any restrictions in your area that may impact your ability to irrigate freshly laid turf.
