Rolawn invests in the future with key staff appointments

Market leading turf and topsoil manufacturer Rolawn Limited is continuing to recruit with eight new head office staff joining over the last few months. This positive move reflects the desire to strengthen key areas of the business in readiness for future developments.

The business is delighted to welcome Chris Matson to the newly created board position of Executive Director. This is a main board position and includes responsibility for Human Resources, Finance, IT and Company Secretary duties, as well as Rolawn’s two workshops.

These are key functions within the company which have a significant part to play in supporting the needs of the business and its growth plans going forwards.

As an experienced Senior Leader and Director, with an engineering background, Chris has invaluable knowledge of UK Regulation and Legislation including Health and Safety, Employment and Contract Law, Corporate Governance and ISO.

Chris is joined by new Finance Manager Pete Smith who has been recruited to head up the day-to-day operations of the Finance Department which has been further strengthened recently with the appointment of Finance Assistants, Amanda Hodgkin and Victoria Minty.

The senior management team has also benefited from the appointment of Dave Webster as Warehouse Operations Manager who has over twenty years of experience working in the Transport, Warehousing and Logistics Sector including DIY, Print Media, FMCG and Retail, with additional extensive experience in Health and Safety, HR and ISO.

Sales and Marketing welcomed Hannah McGouran to the new role of Copywriter and Web Content Creator, responsible for ensuring customers receive timely and relevant communications about Rolawn’s products and services, and Customer Services Coordinator, Robert Theakstone, has brought the skills and experience required to uphold the service levels that has seen Rolawn achieve Feefo’s coveted Gold Trusted Service Award.

In IT, Assistant Wayne Towse now provides the reassurance that business critical systems continue operating uninterrupted by technical setbacks.

Paul Dawson, Managing Director at Rolawn, explains what these appointments mean for the business; “After sustained growth we have a really positive outlook ahead. The new talent and skills that these appointments bring to the business is an essential part of achieving our plans and continuing our drive for the creativity and innovation that will help us meet future customer needs.”

Elsewhere, the business has continued to fill roles in its Warehouse and Workshops to fulfil customer demand.

Important update: Temporary 6.5% surcharge effective 7 April

At Rolawn, we are committed to maintaining the high standards of quality and service our customers expect, so we want to be open with our customers about a change that will affect pricing from Tuesday 7th April.

This decision has been taken in response to disruption to energy supplies, which has led to significant increases in wholesale prices, affecting not only fuel and fertiliser but also costs throughout our wider supply chain. As a business that relies heavily on fuel for both transport and operations, these sustained cost pressures have become increasingly difficult to absorb.

While we have worked hard to mitigate the impact, the scale and pace of recent price increases have now exceeded what we can sustain internally, and we therefore need to recover a proportion of these externally driven increases.

From Tuesday 7th April, a temporary 6.5% surcharge will apply to all products.

We know that any increase in price is frustrating, particularly at a time when many businesses and households are already feeling under pressure. That is why we want to be clear that this is not a decision we have made lightly, and not one we wanted to make. It has been introduced solely to help offset unavoidable cost inflation and allow us to continue delivering the quality, reliability and service standards associated with Rolawn.

We will continue to monitor market conditions closely and will review this surcharge as soon as circumstances allow, providing reasonable notice of any changes. We recognise that any price increase is unwelcome, but this step is necessary to ensure the continuity and reliability of our operations during a period of ongoing uncertainty.

We remain committed to providing the quality, reliability and service standards you expect from Rolawn, and we truly appreciate your understanding and continued support.

If you have any questions, please contact our customer support team who will be happy to help.
