Rolawn backs keyworkers with 15% discount and crowdfunding campaign support

In a move to thank NHS staff and keyworkers, Rolawn has launched a 15% product-wide discount via the Blue Light Card scheme. As the UK’s leading turf grower, Rolawn supplies Britain’s Finest Turf and is renowned for horticulturally-focused, safety-assured topsoils and responsibly-sourced barks which are now available to Blue Light Card holders at the discounted rate.

“Good news has been in short supply lately so we wanted to create a little positivity by giving something back. We’ve been fortunate to be able to continue trading through the pandemic as people have valued their gardens more than ever,” said Jonathan Hill, Rolawn’s Sales and Marketing Director.

Hopefully our NHS heroes and keyworkers will also have the opportunity to unwind in their gardens and it seems fitting to help them enjoy that experience all the more by discounting our entire product range for them.”

Rolawn is also helping to raise money for the NHS Charities Together COVID-19 Urgent Appeal, by promoting the ‘Grow Some Sunshine’ Crowdfunder campaign, which has been launched by gardening journalist & horticultural consultant David Hurrion.

The appeal aims to get the nation smiling by nurturing cheery sunflowers up and down the UK, in celebration of our NHS heroes. Members of the public can get involved by making a donation to the NHS Charities Together COVID-19 Urgent Appeal, supporting NHS frontline staff and volunteers caring for COVID-19 patients in hospitals around the UK, via the Grow Some Sunshine Crowdfunder page. In return for their donation, they will be sent 8 ‘Pike’s Peak’ Sunflower Seeds which they are encouraged to grow somewhere prominent, to be appreciated by their neighbourhood. The appeal is open until May 31st.

Jonathan explained why Rolawn has got behind the appeal, “We usually run a ‘Grow Challenge’ at BBC Gardeners’ World Live but since it has been cancelled we felt it would be worthwhile helping to raise awareness of this fantastic campaign. I’d like to encourage anyone reading this to show their support for our NHS heroes by making a small donation in return for some cheery sunflower seeds.”

Keyworkers who subscribe to the Blue Light Card scheme can claim the discount via the Blue Light Card website and app, accessible via our offer page

Important update: Temporary 6.5% surcharge effective 7 April

At Rolawn, we are committed to maintaining the high standards of quality and service our customers expect, so we want to be open with our customers about a change that will affect pricing from Tuesday 7th April.

This decision has been taken in response to disruption to energy supplies, which has led to significant increases in wholesale prices, affecting not only fuel and fertiliser but also costs throughout our wider supply chain. As a business that relies heavily on fuel for both transport and operations, these sustained cost pressures have become increasingly difficult to absorb.

While we have worked hard to mitigate the impact, the scale and pace of recent price increases have now exceeded what we can sustain internally, and we therefore need to recover a proportion of these externally driven increases.

From Tuesday 7th April, a temporary 6.5% surcharge will apply to all products.

We know that any increase in price is frustrating, particularly at a time when many businesses and households are already feeling under pressure. That is why we want to be clear that this is not a decision we have made lightly, and not one we wanted to make. It has been introduced solely to help offset unavoidable cost inflation and allow us to continue delivering the quality, reliability and service standards associated with Rolawn.

We will continue to monitor market conditions closely and will review this surcharge as soon as circumstances allow, providing reasonable notice of any changes. We recognise that any price increase is unwelcome, but this step is necessary to ensure the continuity and reliability of our operations during a period of ongoing uncertainty.

We remain committed to providing the quality, reliability and service standards you expect from Rolawn, and we truly appreciate your understanding and continued support.

If you have any questions, please contact our customer support team who will be happy to help.
