Rolawn Medallion® selected for iconic gardens in Edinburgh

One of Edinburgh’s most beautiful green spaces has undergone a significant recent transformation.

Princes’ Street Gardens, which lay in the shadow of Edinburgh Castle, are a popular destination for residents and visitors alike, due to their beauty and central location. Replacing turf that receives heavy footfall during the Winter Festival is an essential part of maintaining the area and because of their importance to the city, it is a priority for the gardens to look first class in time for the main tourist season.

Due to the very wet weather this year, selecting turf that will rapidly establish and look superb from the outset was essential, resulting in Rolawn’s award-winning Medallion turf being chosen for the contract. Medallion is well known for its quality, health, fast rooting characteristics and lush, vibrant green sward, making it the most specified turf in the UK and an obvious choice for high-profile commercial landscaping projects.

7000m of Medallion was supplied to Edinburgh-based commercial landscaping contractors, SportsMasters UK, who chose to take Rolawn’s larger Turfmaster® rolls, which are over 24 meters long, allowing for quick, efficient coverage of large areas.

Gavin Brown, SportMasters UK Managing Director stated “This contract required premium quality turf supplied under very tight time restrictions, Rolawn delivered on both counts and we are delighted with the outcome.”
